Fenrir Greyback to Lead an Army of Werewolves

Written by - Katie Evans

SPOILER ALERT [HBP, Book 6]

The number of people bitten by werewolves has significantly risen, enough so, to worry Ministry Officials who now believe the rise in attacks can not be coincidental. They are taking any tips seriously and encourage everyone to come forward if they've heard rumours concerning werewolves. "It is necessary to take precautions in these dark and dangerous times," said Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour. "Don't go out during the full moon or at night at all if you can help it and keep your children close to you at all times. It appears that at least one werewolf, namely Fenrir Greyback has taken to attacking whenever he pleases, regardless of the time of month. We've had several victims over the past months, many of them children. So far seven of the children's parents have reported them missing and it seems likely that Greyback is planning to raise them in an entirely werewolf community and use them in an army against us. Again, I urge you all to take precautions to protect yourselves and your families."Since the Minister's words two days ago there has been a drop in the number of attacks, but still, no one is safe. Just yesterday a body was found outside Devonshire. His face, chest, and arm were badly mauled. It appears that the victim was forced to the ground and was trying to ward off his attacker with one arm but did not succeed. His body has not yet been identified but there is no doubt that the attacker was a werewolf due to the characteristics of the victim's wounds. As the full moon was two and a half weeks ago we know that the attacker was human at the time. As we all know, a werewolf transforms at the full moon into a mindless animal, vicious and ruthless, it will attack any human in it's path, even a loved one. They are usually tormented by what they have done or might do while they are not in control of their bodies. While we can understand that, how could someone with complete control of themselves possibly contemplate attack ing someone in such a way? A spokesperson for St. Mungo's Hospital said that they were unsure if the victims of the untransformed-werewolf attacks would become werewolves themselves or even suffer any effects at all other than scarring. The Minister of Magic has assured the wizarding community that whoever is responsible for these attacks (and I think we all know who it is) will be punished most severely. The usual punishment for such serious crimes would have been the Dementor's Kiss but as the Dementors have joined You-Know-Who, we will just have to settle for a lesser punishment.
