Child Actors

Just because a child is "cute" does NOT mean they would be a good model or actor.

Avoid "model searches" and "charm schools." Most are just after your money.

Because they grow so quickly, children - especially babies - do not need high-priced professional headshots. Good-quality snapshots (think Sears Portrait Studio) are more than adequate for child models and actors.
Remember, an agency NEVER charges you to sign up! They only take a percentage if you earn money. WALK AWAY from ANY agency or manager that asks you for an up-front fee!

Most talent and modeling agencies have what are called "open call" days where they conduct interviews with new talent. Call each agency and ask what their particular policies are.

A good talent agent should ask a lot of questions regarding your intentions toward the business. Vice versa, do not hesitate to ask them what's on your mind. Use your instincts when choosing an agency.

Have your child audition for and participate in community and children's theater.

Find an acting school that specializes in classes for children and young adults.

NEVER PRESSURE your child into acting or modeling. Acting and modeling are JOBS. Do not be deceived - it's hard work (for both of you)!

Be prepared to dedicate a significant amount of time taking your child on auditions. NEVER sacrifice their education, or your time, for the sake of potential work.

Thanks, Ivan
